What do you do with donations that cannot be resold?
We carefully process donations to make sure they have life left before offering them to the public for purchase. When we receive items that are dated, stained or otherwise compromised, those items get recycled. During the 2020-2021 fiscal year, our business kept nearly 2 million pounds of recycled goods out of the landfill.
Does Goodwill clean donated items before placing them on the sales floor?
We do not wash clothing items; we do wipe down household items.
Do Goodwill stores sell items from their back rooms?
No. It is against Goodwill's retail policies to sell merchandise from the back room or donation center, and no merchandise can be held for a future purchase.
Are Goodwill employees allowed to shop in the stores?
Yes. Team Members may shop in our stores during their off hours. Only items on the sales floor may be purchased.
how is pricing determined?
We evaluate brand names, quality of products, and availability of similar products as we determine prices. Clothing racks are marked with rack-top price-point signs for each category of clothing. Clothing items that are deemed best quality are individually marked and may be sold at a higher price. Prices are not negotiable, and we do not offer refunds or exchanges.
Why do you have a no-return policy?
For more than a decade, all Goodwill retail stores in North Dakota have had a no-return policy. Please take this into consideration when you are shopping.
